Book Review; Same Kind of Different As Me by Ron Hall and Denver Moore

This is a true story about two men and the very different lives they lead. One is a well to do business man and the other is a modern day slave. This book documents their story as their paths cross and their lives influence one another. Each chapter alternates, telling the story from one mans point of view, then the others. It takes an honest look at the way we see others and ourselves.

I loved this book, this is one i will reread. This book sucked me in from the beginning, it had me laughing, crying and thinkning. The story of how Denver turned his life around and was able to encourage and inspire others is truely amazing.

I received this book free from the publisher through the BookSneeze®.com book review bloggers program. My opinions are my own and I am not required to write a positive review.

excitement!

Today I saw a red leaf! I know, it's summer, and in our part of the country it will feel like summer for the next 3 months, but seeing that red leaf reminded me that fall will bless us with its presence some day! I told the kids I saw a red leaf and they said "yayy". Don't get me wrong, we love the lazy days of summer and swimming, but it is too h-o-t!!

Other exciting news, My sweet nephew is one today! I get to see him tomorrow when we go visit my pop and his soon to be misses. My bro and his family are in from Missouri and we are excited to see them.

I tried a new recipe last night, so papilla cheesecake! As Rachel Ray would say, it was "yum-o". I made a 13X9 pan of it and there were no left overs! I think we have a new family fave!

I found another book website, I can't for the life of me remember the name, but you can swap books for free, well minus the cost of shipping. I love my books and reread often, but there are some that I wouldn't mind swapping. In the meantime, I am still waiting for my first book from booksneeze.

Have a happy Friday Blogworld,

Long time no blog!!

Hello Blog world!
To say it's been a long time is a smidge of an understatement! I read my favorite blogs nearly everyday but now I am making the time to check back in here! I have now survived my first year of big college! Only one more to go! Double woo hoo!! It sounds much better when I say one semester and one more internship! I did my first internship at a nursing home and I am now working there part time. I was'nt too thrilled when i found out where I had been placed, but of cousre I have grown attached to the people there and will miss them when it is time to move on. Now that I have finished my summer classes I can concentrate on enjoying what is left of summer with my kiddos! Our favorite summer passtime is heading to the pool. We also like to consider ourselves creative and engoy getting in up to our elbows in crafts. Another of my favorite passtimes is snuggling up with a good book. I just discovered book sneeze and am looking foward to getting started on that! My first review shold be coming soon. Until then, I'm out!

I survived my first week in big college. Yay me. 15 weeks to go until the semseter is over but who's counting?

other countdowns FYI.....

17 days until the first day of Fall!
soooo excited about this one.

56 days until Halloween
prob. my least favorite holiday. Really need to come up with some new ideas for the kids this year.

82 days until Thanksgiving! One of my favorites!

83 days until my first screening of "A Christmas Story", "National Lampoon's Christmas Vacation" It's a Wonderful Life", and "Miracle on 34th Street". My tv will then be permanetly set on ABC Family to catch all of the Cheesey Christmas movies. Last year my favorite was one called "The List", about a woman who makes a santa list and ends up getting everything on her list. So cheesy it should come with a side of cheddar, I loved it! Most people consider this day to be "black friday", but what better way to spend the day than a movie marathon? Although...I have been tempted in the past by fabulous sales. Postponing the marathon for a few hours is always a possibility!

111 days until Christmas!! My favorite!!

116 days until New Years Eve. Another good one :)

Out of the mouths of babes

We just returned from visiting the kids Grandad. I had an entertaining conversation with my oldest son. He looks at me and says "mommy, what does wreckum mean?" I am thinking, "please tell me he is not trying to say rectum." I say "wreckum?" he says yeah mommy, like when Grandad says "you wreckum?". Me-> "Oh!!!!!!!, you mean "you reckon?". phew! dodged that one! :)

Why am I here?

Hi everyone.

Or should I say "anyone"?? I am new to the whole blogging thing. I am not counting my 3 blog posts on myspace, ha. I have been entertaining the idea of starting a blog for a while now. I think it would be so much fun to do. I really enjoy all the blogs I read. They are all so interesting, but I keep coming back to the same question, "what in the world do I have to blog about". I am still not sure what the answer to that question is, but hey, here I am. I have no idea how often I will post on here, or what in the world I will write about, but a blogging we will go. It should be a fun ride :)
